Here is the defensive side of the ball. Again the link is here, but I'll write it out anyway.
DE: Austin Giles- Sr.
Alex Albright- Jr.
DT: Kaleb Ramsey- So.
Bryan Murray- RFr.
DT: Damik Scafe- Jr.
Brendan Deska- Sr.
DE: Jim Ramella- Sr.
Brad Newman- Jr.
SLB: Dominick LeGrande- So.
Kevin Distaso- Sr.
MLB: Mike McLaughlin- Sr.
Will Thompson- So.
WLB: Nick Clancy- RFr.
Alexander DiSanzo- RFr.
CB: Roderick Rollins- Sr.
DeLeon Gause- Jr.
CB: Donnie Fletcher- So.
Isaac Johnson- So.
FS: Wes Davis- Jr.
Okechukwu Okoroha- RFr.
SS: Marcellus Bowman- Sr.
Donte Elliot- RFr. OR
Stephen Atkinson- RFr.
Surprises here are that McLaughlin is projected to be back, which is great news if true. Also, Dominick LeGrande stepping in and taking the SLB position is a pleasant surprise. Our secondary looks ridiculous. I'm surprised to see Albright not in the starting DE role. He was far and away our best pass-rusher when healthy and I fully expect him to take over the starting role once the season rolls around. Again, here is the 2-deep I made a while ago. Compare.

BC Releases Preseason Depth Chart
BC released their Media Guide recently...you can find it here. Included in it is the preseason depth chart. If you're too lazy to click the link and look for it yourself, here it is:
QB: Dave Shinskie- Fr. OR
Codi Boek- Jr. OR
Justin Tuggle- RFr.
RB: Montel Harris- So.
Josh Haden- So.
FB: James McCluskey- Jr.
Jarick Walker- Jr.
WR: Rich Gunnell- Sr.
Clyde Lee- RFr.
WR: Justin Jarvis- Sr.
Ifeanyi Momah- Jr.
TE: Lars Anderson- So.
Jordan McMichael- Jr.
LT: Anthony Castonzo- Jr.
John Wetzel- Fr.
LG: Emmett Cleary- RFr.
Nathan Richman- So.
C: Matt Tennant- Sr.
Mark Spinney- So.
RG: Thomas Claiborne- Jr.
Nick Halloran- RFr.
RT: Rich Lapham- Jr.
Mike Goodman- RFr.
That is the offensive side of the ball. Surprising to see freshman John Wetzel crack the 2-deep early. Also, Emmett Cleary at LG was a surprise as he was listed at tackle in last year's 2-deep. Seeing freshman crack the 2-deep is always encouraging. BC gets a lot of unheralded OL prospects but honestly it is close to the hardest position to judge. Still no answer at QB though, evident by the big OR's that were listed next to each name. Here is the 2-deep I made with my infinite foobau wisdom. Compare.

Support BC's 1st Lift for Life
This is a great idea from BC...
BC is doing a lift-a-thon to benefit Ewings Sarcoma research. It is run through Uplifting Athletes and you can sponsor your favorite player. The event will be held on July 30 from 6-8pm. They are selling tickets to the event as well, 10 bucks for adults, 5 bucks for kids and students.
Here is the link for the Event Page. Click on Special Events and then click View Player Roster. You can select which player to sponsor from there. Here is the Facebook Event for the "Lift For Life"
So if you're around Boston, come out to the event. If not, then drive there.

July 1, 2005

Happy LBC Day, (Liberation of Boston College)...well I'm a day late, but yesterday marked the 4th anniversary of BC's departure from the Big East to the ACC. (Again please note I'm on an entourage bender because the new season is coming soon)
That day, I felt like BC was where it belonged, athletically and academically (Duke, UNC, UVA, GT, Wake Forest). A lot of people doubted BC, saying that we didn't have the chops to compete with the rest of the ACC...now look. Two division titles and the second most ACC wins in the conference since 2005 (VT is first but BC is split 3-3 head to head).
Think about it, instead of playing Clemson, FSU, VT, Maryland, UNC, Miami, GT every year, we would have been playing Rutgers, WVU, Louisville, USF, Pitt, UConn, Cincy...sorry I just threw up in my mouth a bit.
Not only are we laying wasted to ACC competition like a minigun, BC has been extremely competitive in Basketball (except for 2007-2008) and BC has really emerged in other sports like soccer and baseball (two sports people said BC didn't have a snowball's chance in hell of competing in).
So all I gotta say is...
HOW YOU LIKE ME NOW!?

Two New Commits
BC received two commits over the weekend...RB Andre Williams from PA and WR Alexander Amidon from CT.
Both are pretty good pickups for BC although both are, at this point, unrated by Rivals.com. Amidon is listed at 5'11" 179 lbs and runs a 4.4 40. Here is his highlight tape, pretty impressive
Williams reflects what apparently is a turn in the profile of RB at BC. While the previous staff preffered "scat backs" (smaller, quicker backs), Williams resembles past RBs Andre Callender and LV Whitworth. He originally played in Georgia before moving to PA. He is listed at 5'11", 202 lbs...here is his video
ESPN thinks that he is too slow to be a RB and too small to be a FB. I doubt this is the case, he looks plenty fast to be a good combo with some of the smaller RBs that BC has. If, however, this is the case, I don't think its inconceivable to see him move to LB.

My Defensive 2-Deep

While Spaz might not run his team with an iron fist, the defense certainly hits like one. Like the offensive one, here is the 2-deep that I count on seeing opening day. More Frosh participation than on offense.
LE: Alex Albright- Jr.
Max Holloway- RFr.
DT: Damik Scafe- Sr.
Kaleb Ramsey- So.
DT: Dillon Quinn- Fr.
Brian Murray- RFr.
RE: Jim Ramella- Sr.
Brad Newman- Jr.
SLB: Will Thompson- So.
Dominick LeGrande- So.
MLB: Mike McLaughlin- Sr.
Luke Kuechly- Fr.
WLB: Nick Clancy- RFr.
Mike Morrissey- Jr.
CB: DeLeon Gause- Jr.
Donnie Fletcher- So.
CB: Roderick Rollins- Sr.
Isaac Johnson- So.
FS: Wes Davis- Jr.
Dan Mulrooney- So.
SS: Marcellus Bowman- Sr.
Okechukwu Okoroha- RFr.
I think Noel, O'Neal, B. Davis, Edebali, Sinkovec, Lawrence all redshirt. From the looks of this, the DBs will be ridiculous, the DL will be very good as well. The only concern is replacing the Sam and Will LB, maybe even the Mike LB if McLaughlin can't get healthy. I have like what I have seen from guys like Clancy, Morrissey, Bagan...while they might not be the showstopping talent that a guy like Mark Herzlich was, they seem like dependable players.
My Offensive 2-Deep
Here is my 2-Deep. There has not been much in the way of news regarding the team's summer progress, so most of these will be based on what I saw in the Spring Game...or I'm just talking out of my ass cuz I have nothing else to post right now.
QB: Dave Shinskie- Fr.
Codi Boek- Jr.
RB: Montel Harris- So.
Josh Haden- So.
FB: James McCluskey- Jr.
Brad Newman- Jr.
WR1: Rich Gunnell- Sr.
Clarence Megwa- Sr.
WR2: Justin Jarvis- Sr.
Ifeanyi Momah- Jr.
TE: Lars Anderson- So.
Chris Pantale- RFr.
LT: Anthony Castonzo- Jr.
Emmett Cleary- RFr.
LG: Thomas Claiborne- Jr.
Nick Halloran- RFr.
C: Matt Tennant- Sr.
Mark Spinney- So.
RG: Nate Richman- So.
Nick Rossi- Sr.
RT: Rich Lapham- Jr.
Mike Goodman- RFr.
Boom, nothing too controversial. The OL is going to be diesel for a long time. As you can see, WR is a big position of need as 3 of the 4 in my 2-deep are Srs.

Links Etc.
---Here is an article from Bob Blubaugh of the Carroll County Times about Josh Bordner...I have questioned this kid's ability to play QB, but after reading this I don't question his attitude:
“I’ve worked hard to get here, but I know I’m going to have to work 10 times harder,” Bordner said.
---Dave Shinskie's first day of practice was reportedly today. No news on how he performed but BC Nation better pray that he, Boek or Tuggle take over.
---Heather Dinich wrapped up her top 30 players in the ACC. BC had one player on that list (Castonzo). She also included an "also considered" section, which had Tennant and Herzlich on it. However that long-necked idiot forgot to add Montel Harris. FACEPALM

---Here is a good article on Ron Brace, part of a "Meet the Rookies segment for the Pats. He may end up being the starting NT at New England if the Vince Wilfork drama continues into the season. How sick would that be? Both DTs starting in the NFL as rookies.
---Rotoworld.com reports that BJ Raji is likely to start at DE in Green Bay's 3-4 defense. Interesting move...
---Jo-Lonn Dunbar is in the thick of the competition for the Will LB position in New Orleans. I'm sure this didn't hurt his cause.

Matt Ryan Is Scaring His Teammates

I forgot to post this because I got all caught up in trying to hang myself after hearing about the Boisture news, so here it is.
Matt Ryan is terrorizing his teammates, terrorizing them with his excellence...
From the Boston Herald, this is what Ovie Mughelli, Falcons FB, said about Matty Ice.
“It’s actually scary how much he’s improved and it’s only his second year. People thought he couldn’t get much better than last year.
“In the weight room, what he’s done out here, his arm strength, the way he reads plays, he’s gotten better in every aspect."
They should rename the Georgia Dome "Matt Ryan's House of Horrors".

I Got an Idea

COME GET YOU SOME WILDCAT!!!!!!!!
(Close your eyes and envision Montel Harris taking snaps with Josh Haden running a WR sweep. REAL GOOD REAL HOT.)

What are the chances that Gary Tranquill has even heard of the Wildcat Offense?
In other news, BC wasted no time getting back on the QB recruiting trail, offering California QB Chase Rettig. I like this offer, I'm happier about this offer than the Bordner one. BC is his first offer but he has been impressing at camps at Tennessee and USC. Here is a video of him from 2007, his sophomore season.
Another QB BC should consider offering is Luke Massa. Massa, a 3* prospect on Rivals.com, has offers from Wisconsin and Cincy. He is also a quality QB, although there is no indication of whether he will be offered. Video on him below.
I read the article on Rivals.com about Boisture's decommitment. Boisture said about BC "They'll be fine, they'll get another good quarterback. I have nothing but good things to say about the BC program." It made me realize something...it sucks that such a promising prospect is gone and it greatly increase the chance that our offense will stink like a fat cab driver with no AC; but if we get Rettig or Massa or one of our current QBs turns into a star, we'll be saying Joe Who.
BC Blogosphere
Here are some links from the other BC Blogs.
Eagle in Atlanta found this awesome marketing campaign by BC.
Maroon and Gold a little differently to the Boisture news than I did.
Stay tuned into Maroon and Gold as he is doing a fantasy schedule and comparing it with BC's real schedule.
Herznation.BLOG is unveiling a new chat feature on the website, allowing fans to send along messages to Mark Herzlich as he continues his fight against Ewing's Sarcoma.

What. The. F**k.

This really sucks. Boisture to MSU...
I don't know what else to say about this right now.
EDIT: Wait, I do.
First, I guess Boisture liked being told that he could be the next Brian Hoyer instead of the next Matt Ryan...
I don't understand how 11 days ago, I read his announcement that he was planning on enrolling early at BC. Here is a quote:
"I had some pretty good offers from UCLA and Cincinnati," said Boisture. "And it was fun while it lasted. But I knew I wanted to come to BC.
"This takes a lot of weight off my shoulders. I'm going to graduate early and plan on being at BC in January."
That was an article on June 14. What the fuck happened these past 11 days? Why on earth would someone keep throwing out reinforcements of his commitment when in a matter of 11 days he has committed to another school?
I'm jut going to go ahead a cross Shakim Phillips off the list. Having a QB like Boisture on the commit list was the only way BC was going to land a WR like that.
I don't know what the problem has been since 2002 in QB recruiting. BC has had a lot of success at that position but the expected rise in recruiting prowess just has not come.
Also, if he thinks Mark Dantonio is going to be around for the entire 4-5 years that Boisture is there, think again pal. Just watch, Spurrier will either quit or get canned at So. Carolina and Dantonio will return to his alma mater.
